  • 1 – inch button

American crochet terms used throughout

Gauge:

4″ x 4″ = 12 sc, 18 rows

Finished Size Approximately:

Instructions:
To make the front panel:
Row 1:

With soft white, ch 35. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (34 sts)

Rows 2 – 44:

Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. Fasten off and weave in ends.

To add the cross-stitches, thread a tapestry needle with a long length of yarn in the color indicated by the graph below. I doubled the yarn over so that I would be cross-stitching with two strands of yarn. Each square on the graph below represents one single crochet. Work one cross-stitch over 4 single crochets (2 sc’s on one row, 2 sc’s on the row above). For a photo tutorial on how to complete a cross-stitch over 4 single crochets, please see this post.

To attach the front and back panels:

With right sides facing out, line up Panel 2 (bottom panel) with bottom edge of the front panel and Panel 1 (top panel) with the top edge of the front panel. Panel 1 will slightly overlap Panel 2, with the buttonhole near the center of the pillow. Pin in place if necessary. Attach soft white to any corner and work 1 round of sl st evenly spaced around all four sides of the pillow, sl st to beginning. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Finishing:

Sew on button so that it lines up with the corresponding button hole.
