Festive Towel and Washcloth Set – Free Crochet Pattern

festive towel and washcloth - free crochet pattern

Today I am sharing with you a free crochet pattern for a Festive Towel and Washcloth Set! This fingertip towel and washcloth set would make a great gift for the upcoming holidays and works up quickly. It is made using the tapestry crochet technique, which produces a fabric that has the same pattern on both the front and back of your work. Instead of providing a graph, I have written the instructions out line by line. I hope you enjoy!

Finishing Edge (worked around all 4 edges of towel):

Attach A in top right corner, ch 1, work hdc in same st and in each st across top of towel, 2hdc in corner, hdc evenly down side of towel, 2 hdc in corner, hdc in each st across bottom of towel, 2 hdc in corner, hdc evenly up remaining side of towel, place last hdc in same st as first hdc and sl st to first hdc. Fasten off. (I put 52 hdc’s on each long side. While you could certainly use more or fewer stitches, I found this number gave my towel the straight rectangular shape I wanted to achieve without blocking).

Instructions for the Washcloth:

Follow instructions for R1 – 42 of fingertip towel. Fasten off.

Finishing Edge (worked around all 4 edges of washcloth):

Attach C in top right corner, ch 1, work hdc in same st and in each st across top of washcloth, 2hdc in corner, hdc evenly down side of washcloth, 2 hdc in corner, hdc in each st across bottom of washcloth, 2 hdc in corner, hdc evenly up remaining side of washcloth, place last hdc in same st as first hdc and sl st to first hdc. Fasten off and weave in all ends.

    1. I’m so glad you like the pattern! I have not made a video tutorial for this project, but if you are new to tapestry crochet (the technique used to make this towel and washcloth set) there are many videos available online. Just google “how to tapestry crochet.” Hope this helps!
