Tapestry of Feathers Crochet Wall Hanging

Tapestry of Feathers Wall Hanging

Today I’m sharing a new tapestry crochet project – a wall hanging! Wall hangings are so on trend right now in the design world. I love seeing all the beautiful handmade wall hangings pop up in my Instagram and Pinterest feeds.

If you love crochet wall hangings as much as I do, you may want to check out this free pattern I shared a few weeks ago.

You can also find other tapestry crochet project patterns here.

To make this wall hanging, I used Caron Simply Soft yarn (a favorite of mine), but any #4 worsted weight yarn will work. Just be sure to check your gauge so that the width of your pattern is not wider than the width of the dowel rod you plan to hang it from.

I hope you enjoy!

To insert the dowel rod:

Thread the dowel rod under the front post stitches worked in row 48.

To crochet the hanger:

With white ch 70, 2sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across ending with 2 sc in last ch. Fasten off. (71 sts)

To attach hanger to top dowel rod:

Tie the hanger into a tight knot at each end of the dowel rod. You may wish to add a dab of glue or hot glue, so that the dowel rod does not slip out.

To add fringe:

For the fringe, cut pieces of yarn into 12″ strands. Fold each strand of yarn in half, forming a loop at one end. Take your hook and draw the loop through the stitch that you’re attaching the fringe to. Draw the loose ends of the yarn through the loop and pull tight. Alternate colors from left to right in the following order: robins egg, soft green, and blue mint. Skip one stitch between each knot of fringe.

  1. Generally really liked this project, but I didn’t crochet over the first color on the just white bottom and top. I actually did mine in fire colors rather than blue and it looks great. Also you don’t say how many pieces of yarn together to make a tassel, so I did three
